Warren George Fischer, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2010 in his hometown of St. Charles. He was born June 16, 1924 in Chicago, the son of Herman George and Leona V. (nee Carlson) Fischer.
He was a 1947 graduate of Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa; where he met Nancy Jane Marshall who he married on October 25, 1947. Warren proudly served his country in the Pacific Theatre of WWII, from 1942 until 1945 with the United States Army. His faith was important in his life, and he served the Elmhurst Presbyterian Church as the organist and choir director for several years, and the Baker Memorial Methodist Church as an organist and member of the choir for over 40 years. He was employed by his father’s company, H.G. Fischer & Company; and later took over the company and served as its president for eight years. He later began his own company in Geneva, Fischer Industries, which he ran along side of his son Jonathan for a number of years. When the company was sold, Warren stayed on with the new owners until he retired in 1998. He greatly enjoyed Wisconsin, spending time on his boat in the Mississippi River and taking in the magnificent views of the ridges near Muscoda. Warren loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; his three children, Jonathan Fischer of St. Charles, Kristen (Steven Holy) Fischer of Champaign, IL and Hannah (Dan) Bonicatto of Waconia, MN; two grandsons, Anthony and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Warren is preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille and Olive; and his cousin Burt.
